Peavey Classic 50

If you are looking for that classic sound that the Peavey classic 30 gets but want more power then you should check out it's big brother. The Peavey classic 50. The Peavey Classic 50 is a combo amp that comes in two flavors. One uses two twelve inch speakers and the other uses four ten inch speakers. Choosing which one is right for you is the hardest part because the Peavey classic 50 sounds great and with it's classic tweed cover it looks just as good as it sounds.

Let's Have a look at some of the Peavey classic 50 features. Just like the smaller Peavey classic 30, The Peavey classic 50 uses a simple design.

It has 50 watts of pure power that is louder than any solid state guitar amp on the market. You just can't beat the warmth and sound of classic tubes. It uses two channels. Channel one has a simple volume knob. Channel two has a pre and post gain control and both channels share a three band EQ. It also has a great sounding spring Reverb. It has a master volume and a presence control.

If you take a look at the back of the Peavey classic 50, you will see what creates that classic sound. It uses 12AX7 tubes for the pre-amp section and EL84 tubes for the power section. All of the tubes are housed inside a protective cage and under the EL84 tubes you will find some foam tape, this keeps those tubes from rattling. There is even a small cooling fan inside to help keep the EL84 tubes from overheating. It doesn't take much to overdrive the EL84 tubes and these tubes are the secret to the whole Peavey classic line of amplifiers.

Just like the Peavey classic 30, the Peavey classic 50 has a great clean tone and just a touch of the volume knob can make the clean tone have a little more warmth or grit. Add a little more volume and you have a great overdriven rhythm tone. If you switch over to the lead channel and turn up the pre gain the Peavey classic 50 lead channel sounds incredible!
